The Auckland Council is currently seeking applications for the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Grant to support those involved in the delivery of projects, activities and services that benefit Aucklanders.
Priorities
- They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- The communities
- Communities are self-led and empowered to thrive, overcome challenges, and succeed.
- Communities are given the opportunity to fully participate and feel a sense of belonging.
- Communities are proud of the history, culture, and identity.
- Communities are active and healthy.
- People have a sense of safety in the community.
- Te ao Māori is thriving and visible.
- Māori culture and identity are celebrated.
- They support marae to be self-sustaining and flourish.
- The environment and heritage
- Community places are accessible and welcoming to the diverse communities.
- The parks and open spaces are treasured and loved.
- The built, natural and cultural taonga / treasures are protected and celebrated.
- The mauri / life force of the harbour and waterways is respected and restored.
- The ecosystems are protected and regenerated.
- The community is resilient and feels prepared for the effects of climate change.
- The character and heritage of the area is acknowledged and celebrated.
- The economic and education opportunities
- The communities
- Higher Priority for Eligibility
- They will give higher priority to applications that:
- are inclusive and support under-represented members of the community
- support smokefree events.
- They will also consider:
- Applications for matching funding. This is where grants are provided in exchange for equal amounts of volunteer labour, cash, or donated goods and services, up to the value of 40 per cent. Applications will be prioritised and assessed under the same priorities as other grants.
- Applicants who have considered other sources of funding for the projects.
- Projects/activities which empower the community to enhance the resilience to the impact of climate change.
- Projects which target and support local resident participation.
- They will give higher priority to applications that:
- Lower Priority for Eligibility
- They have also identified lower priorities:
- Catering.
- Electronic equipment.
- Ongoing administration costs – for example wages, salaries or rent.
- Fundraising activities for a group or organisation.
- Projects or events outside the local board area.
- Initiatives that are eligible and can be funded by central government.
- Projects that do not demonstrate any benefit to the wider community.
- Applications for travel and accommodation outside Auckland unless there is strong evidence of benefit to the community.

- The physical and social infrastructure is future-proofed.

What they will not Fund?
They will not fund:
- gifts and prizes
- groups that have failed to meet accountability obligations from previous council grants except in exceptional circumstances.
