CARE Balkans (CARE), in cooperation with partner organizations from the region: ENECA (Republic of Serbia), LINK (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Strategic Development Consulting (North Macedonia) and Tehnopolis (Montenegro), is implementing the project Economic Inclusion and Justice for Women in the Western Balkans (EWI), funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
This three-year project, currently in its initial phase, aims to empower women in the Western Balkans region and promotes their economic rights.
The project aims to achieve the following results:
- Women entrepreneurs in selected target regions develop and advance sustainable businesses through financial and technical support,
- Increased employability of women in target regions through skills development, certified vocational education and training.,
- Improved environment for economic inclusion of women in the community and society,
- Strengthened capacities of institutional stakeholders for integration of gender-sensitive approaches in employment and entrepreneurship programs.
Funding Information
- Financial support in the amount of 10,000 euros per organization, for a total of 2 CSOs.

- Four-day training on key topics such as community outreach, advocacy, public speaking, soft skills, leadership, and organizational administrative and financial management.
- Two-day online fundraising training, including training in writing project proposals and the use of crowdfunding platforms.

Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply, civil society organizations must meet the following criteria:
- Be managed by women and/or programmatically focused on women’s empowerment, active in the municipalities in the Republic of North Macedonia.
- Be registered as a civil society organization for at least 3 years, with active status, and be organized according to democratic principles and a transparent way of working.
- The founders must be citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia.
- To have achieved a positive financial balance (net profit) in the period 2022–2024.
- Have proven experience in women’s economic empowerment and other activities for support for women.
- To foster a gender-sensitive approach, as well as an approach based on the needs of the community.
- Have previous experience with donor-funded projects, narrative and financial reporting.
