The U.S. Consulate General Nogales Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
Purpose of Small Grants: PAS Nogales invites proposals for programs that strengthen ties between the U.S. and Mexico through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include a U.S. cultural element, or connection with U.S. expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Examples of PAS Small Grants Program programs include, but are not limited to:
- Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and speaker programs;
- Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances and exhibitions;
- Entrepreneurship, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, and economic development projects;
- Transparency, anti-corruption, and rule of law programs
- Environmental preservation, conservation, and education;
- Cultural heritage conservation and preservation programs;
- Professional and academic exchanges and programs.
Priority Program Areas
The goal of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to strengthen community-based organizations in support of activities to empower their community through the following topics:
- STEAM education
- Youth Empowerment
- Transparency, Rule of Law
- Journalism
- Entrepreneurship
- English Language
- Preventing and Countering Violence
- Civil Society
Funding Information
- Total available funding: $50,000.00 USD
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $2,000.00 USD to a maximum of $10,000.00 USD
- Length of performance period: 12 months
- Number of awards anticipated: 10 awards (dependent on amounts)
- Anticipated program start date: October 20, 2021
Participants and Audiences: Proposals should focus on engaging Mexican citizen audiences. A gender balance among participants is preferred as well as engaging underserved populations.

The Public Affairs Section encourages applications from the United States and Nogales, Mexico:
- Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations with programming experience
- Individuals
- Educational institutions
