The U.S. Embassy Port of Spain Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Department of State (hereafter referred to as “PDS POS”) is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
PDS POS’s Priority Program Areas
- Citizen Security:
- Support programs that make the United States and the region safer by stopping illegal migration, trafficking in persons, violent transnational criminal organizations and the illegal trade in weapons, narcotics, and precursor chemicals used in the manufacture of illegal synthetic drugs, by addressing the root causes of illegal migration, the rise in transnational criminal organizations, and gang membership.
- Support programs that provide alternatives to criminal involvement
- Economic growth and mutual prosperity:
- Support programs that contribute to increased economic engagement between the United States and TT that prioritizes mutual prosperity.
- Support programs that increase economic and technology partnerships with the United States.
- Support programs that decrease TT’s vulnerability to economic coercion and exploitation by malign actors and Transnational Criminal Organizations.
- American Innovation and Leadership:
- Support programs that use U.S. leadership to shape global trends in science, innovation, economics, and agriculture.
- Support programs for U.S. leadership in film, music, cuisine, the arts, and sports.
- Support programs that protect fundamental human rights and freedom of the press in Trinidad and Tobago and the region.
Funding Information
- Total Amount Available: US$140,000.00
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of US$5,000 to a maximum of US$20,000
Duration
- Length of performance period: up to 12 months
Eligibility Criteria
- The Embassy invites, and will consider, proposals from all Trinbagonian and U.S. organizations.
- Eligible Applicants
- Proposals from non-profits, NGOs, academic institutions, and social enterprises with offices headquartered in TT will be given preference. Please note that they will also accept applications from U.S.-based institutions, but they must show that they have already obtained on-the-ground support from a local organization.
- For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following types of programs are not eligible for funding:
- For-profit trade activities
- Commercial projects
- Scientific research
- Projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization
- The purchase of space or buildings in support of program activities
- Development projects
- Construction projects
- Individual travel to conferences
- Scholarships to support educational opportunities or study for individuals
