The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced today that the Fourth Call for Category 2 proposals for the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) is now open.
Focus
- The focus of this RRDF Category 2 call is to provide developmental support to projects, in towns with a population of less than 10,000, that have the potential to:
- Assist in revitalising the rural towns and villages in line with policy principles contained in the Town Centre First Policy through planned and sustainable regeneration. This should drive greater economic activity and footfall, increase employment opportunities, address vacancy and dereliction and ensure the re-use of heritage and other existing buildings; and
- Provide the necessary facilities and infrastructure in settlements, which will assist in attracting people to live, work and invest in rural areas.
Funding Information
- The maximum funding available per project under this call is €1 million.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Fund will focus on:
- all settlements and rural areas with fewer than 10,000 people that are located outside the five city metropolitan areas (based on Census 2022 data).
- Projects that involve collaboration amongst various organisations (i.e. lead applicants) and geographical areas.
