Shop Façade Grant in Australia

The Pyrenees Shire Council is now inviting applications for its Shop Façade grant to help Pyrenees businesses make improvements that will:

  • improve the look and attractiveness of local streetscapes,
  • encourage new investment in the town shopping centres,
  • support local business development, and
  • increase resident and visitor engagement in the shopping districts.

The program is open to any business located in a commercial township area of the Shire that has street frontage.

Projects

  • Types of projects that may be funded include:
    • Painting
      • Repainting of a building façade and or windows.
    • Lighting
      • Renewal of under-awning lighting or streetscape lighting.
      • Installation of store lighting visible from the street.
    • Repair and Reinstatements
      • Renewal or replacements of an awning structure.
      • Reinstatement of lost elements, or fabric to the façade of a building.
      • Cleaning an existing façade and removal of unwanted material (e.g. cladding, signage, air conditioning units).
    • Signage
      • Installation/upgrade of business signage.
    • Access
      • Implementing universal access in front of building (e.g. a ramp).

Funding Information

  • Council will competitively allocate funding to successful applicants on a matched, dollar for dollar funding basis up to $5,000. Applicants are able to contribute over the $5,000, to complete more significant works but would still only be eligible for a maximum of $5,000 from Council.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Shop Façade Grant applicants:
    • Businesses are eligible to make application to the Shop Facade grant only, noting:
      • The applicant must be a Pyrenees based business or a property owner that leases to a Pyrenees based business.
      • Property owners with a vacant building that intend to lease to a Pyrenees based business will be considered.
      • Businesses must be registered for an ABN. Property owners without an ABN must complete the ATO ‘Statement by a Supplier’ form.
      • Home based business or businesses with no street frontage are not eligible to apply
  • Home-based, or businesses with no street frontage are not eligible.
