Deadline: 13-Jul-22
The Leeds Community Foundation is seeking applications for the Pears Youth Fund to support third sector youth organisations to deliver high quality youth work and promote youth voice with unrestricted funding to enable them to do what they do best.
They have a specific interest in young people and giving them a voice in society through youth work practice, youth empowerment and youth engagement activity.
Grants are available to organizations for whom the majority of their work is focused on children and young people, and applicants can apply for a one-year grant which can be used towards the operating costs of the organization, or for any other costs that enhance your youth work practice.
Funding Information
Organizations can apply for a grant for one year of up to £10,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Incorporated community groups such as CIOs, CICs and charitable companies from the third sector that:
- Are registered with the Charity Commission, Companies House or Mutuals Public Register (FCA)
- Have a constitution or other relevant governance document
- Have a management committee/board of directors/trustees of at least three unrelated people, none of whom have significant control
- CICs and companies should be limited by guarantee, not shares
- Have a bank account under the name of the group with at least two unrelated signatories (if your organization doesn’t have its own bank account, but does meet all of the other criteria, please contact them to discuss how they can work around this)
- Are based in or supporting people living in the Bradford/Leeds Metropolitan District Areas (please click the links to check the ward maps)
- Charities that are registered with the Charity Commission but are not an incorporated structure can also apply. They must also fulfill the above bullet points. However, grants cannot be used to pay staff that are directly employed by the charity.
Small unincorporated and unregistered community groups can apply for a maximum of £5,000. Unincorporated, unregistered groups can only apply if their annual income is less than £10,000, and if securing the grant does not take them above this threshold for the year.
Criteria
Additionally, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- They must be youth-focused organizations – where young people are core to the work of the organisation: that means they exist primarily for the promotion and delivery of youth work practice, youth empowerment, youth engagement or giving young people a voice in society. You may wish to check the objects in your governing document align with this. They appreciate there are many community organizations who deliver great youth activity as part of a wider remit, but these are unfortunately not eligible, as the funding is to support costs in organizations where the primary focus is young people
- They will prioritize applications from groups with an income below £500,000 in the most recent financial year
- Organizations can make one application only (but can be a named partner on another organization’s application).
