UNDP is calling for proposals for Mining associations, Civil Society organizations, Community groups, training institutions, and cooperatives working in the Development Minerals sector to participate in a Small Grants Programme to strengthen the resilience of Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Projects during and post-Covid 19 pandemics in Zambia.
Goal
The ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme is calling for proposals with the overall objective to support the Artisanal and Small-scale Mining Enterprises (ASMEs) businesses to cushion the effects of Covid 19 on sector. The programme is inviting grants applications from qualified Artisanal and Small- Scale Mining and Quarrying operators, Mining Associations and cooperatives as well as small enterprises in the Development Minerals sector. The call is intended to strengthen the resilience of enterprises to remain in business during and post Covid 19, thereby sustaining livelihoods.
Objectives
Specifically, priority will be given to the Proposals that aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Supporting business continuity for the Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Enterprises
- Supporting Formalisation of the Artisanal and Small Scale Mining sector
- Enhancing Occupational Health and Safety at workplace, home and community levels along the Development Minerals value chain
Funding Information
- Organizations are expected to submit individual projects to the equivalent in Zambian Kwacha of USD 5,000 per project at the United Nations Official Rate of Exchange UNORE applicable at the time of the submission.
- The funding awarded to successful applicants will be a maximum of US$ 5,000 per project to cover activities over a period of 6 months.
Targeted Provinces
The projects shall be implemented in all provinces of Zambia. The Rural Districts of the three provinces are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this call,
- Applicants should have participated in at least one of the Training of Trainers (TOT) Training Workshop and/or outreach services provided under the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme.
- The call is open to mining associations, Civil Society Organization, Community groups, training institutions and cooperatives officially registered in Zambia for at least two (2) years (applications to be accompanied by proof of registration with relevant authorities (e.g PACRA, Registrar of NGOs and Registrar of Sociaties);
- Independent, non-political affiliated organizations.
- Membership comprises at least 50% female representation and 10% youth with disabilities (submit list of members with their NRCs);
- The association/organization must have valid bank accounts indicating Bank Name, Account Number, Branch Name, Swift Code, Sort Code and TPIN number (a letter from the Bank should be attached confirming the Bank Details).
