GiveBradford is currently accepting applications for the Manjit Wolstenholme Fund to support children and young people in disadvantaged areas of Bradford District to achieve their potential through educational and aspirational opportunities.
The Fund is offering grants to community groups in the Bradford District who are looking to develop and deliver their activity to support young people in deprived areas to achieve their full potential through educational and aspirational opportunities, no matter what their background. Grants can be used to cover overheads and core costs of organisations during the project duration.
Funding Information
- The minimum request is £5,000 The maximum is £10,000.
What can the Fund support?
Projects should meet one of the following themes:
- Activity should be focused on young people up to age 21, their parents, carers, family members or key influencers working directly with young people or with families. The proposed activity should support one or more of the following:
- Increasing aspiration and enabling young people to make informed choices about their next steps in education and learning
- Developing confidence, resilience and life skills in order to increase attainment and access to education and learning opportunities (including within the world of work)
- Addressing issues of low educational attainment and improving learning outcomes
- Providing young people with opportunities to reduce inequality, exclusion and disadvantage, and therefore increase access to education and learning
- Supporting digital and IT skills for inclusion and increased aspiration
- Money advice for young adults up to age 21 (if you are giving advice, it must be independent, impartial and confidential).
- Improving young people’s personal finance capabilities (debt and financial advice/education)
- They encourage all applications to consider:
- How they will evidence learning and demonstrate and evaluate outcomes from the project; applicants should consider including costs for external evaluation or additional internal capacity to ensure they can effectively report on this
- Full Cost Recovery, including a relevant portion of management costs and overheads
- Staff costs, which should wherever possible include paying staff at least the real Living Wage
- Costs which enable the project to be fully inclusive and accessible (E.G. transport, food, childcare)
- How they envisage a successful project could be sustained after this funding ends
Eligibility Criteria
Community groups, charities, social enterprises or other charitable organisations from the third sector that:
- Have a constitution or other relevant governance document
- Have a management committee/board of directors/trustees of at least three unrelated people, none of whom have significant control
- Have a bank account under the name of the group with at least two unrelated signatories (if your organisation doesn’t have its own bank account, but does meet all of the other criteria, please contact them to discuss how they can work around this)
- Are based in or supporting people living in the Bradford Metropolitan District Area
- Organisations currently in receipt of funding through Provident Financial Group or through previous Manjit Wolstenholme Fund grant rounds (organisations currently in receipt of funding are able to re-apply if the funding will be fully spent before this grant is awarded).
