The USAID Feed the Future Asia Innovative Farmers Project is seeking applications from Bangladeshi, Cambodian and Nepalese organizations with an aim to increase food security, reduce poverty, and improve environmental sustainability by facilitating agricultural innovation and technology diffusion in the Asia region.
The objective of this grant program is to support country champions to develop and grow a diverse, engaged regional community focused on increasing agricultural technology and innovation in smallholder agriculture.
The USAID Feed the Future Asia Innovative Farmers Project, implemented by Winrock International, is supporting a Regional Agricultural Innovation System that includes a diverse group of stakeholders willing to work together towards the adoption and commercialization of effective technology to raise incomes for smallholder across South and South East Asia.
Funding Information
The project will provide multiple awards to support agricultural innovation communities. Individual awards will not exceed $15,000 USD and there is potential for renewal depending on performance under the first year.
Program Outcomes
The grant program will fund innovative, locally-owned approaches to accomplish the following outcomes:
- Thought-Leadership for the Community
- Addressing Member Needs to Utilize Innovative Technology
- Connecting Regionally
Program Activities
Grant renewable is possible depending on performance and available resources. Illustrative activities include:
- Member mixers and gatherings (e.g. formal meetings, informal meet-ups, field trips, seminars or talks by invited guests, etc.)
- Targeted incubation, business, and/or linkage services to entrepreneurs, SMEs, and businesses vested in utilizing innovations in agriculture
- Knowledge transfer or information sharing with stakeholders along agriculture supply chains
- Social media campaigns that foster interactive dialogue online among community members
- Competitions and contests among members
- Support or advice to organizations experimenting with minimum viable products in agriculture
- Cooperation with existing projects / networks
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be legally registered in the country of performance and must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements:
- Applicants can be private companies, educational institutions, civil society organizations or any other non-governmental organization.
- Applicants are encouraged showcase partners in which they have standing relationships as well as a plan to identify additional members for the community.
- Preference will be given to organizations that have a clear strategic interest in encouraging innovations in agricultural and which can articulate how supporting the community will benefit the organization.
- Applicant organization commitment to contribute cost share and how the approach aligns with the organization’s strategic and long-term interests.
- Applicant organization must have adequate technical, administrative, financial management and record-keeping capabilities
