USAID inviting Applications to promote Local Solutions in the fight against Malaria

Call for EOI: Step-up the fight against Malaria through Community-Based Approaches

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement USAID/Cameroon’s Systems to End the Malaria Burden through Meaningful Engagement (SEMBE I) Eligibility for this award is restricted to local entities only.

Systems to End the Malaria Burden through Meaningful Engagement – I (SEMBE I) seeks to strengthen the capacity of the Cameroonian government and local stakeholders to lead and promote local solutions in the fight against malaria. SEMBE I is a five-year cooperative agreement that will be issued to a local entity (as defined in series 303.6 of USAID’s Automated Directives System) to lead malaria prevention, control, and elimination activities in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

The SEMBE I activity will initially contribute to the following priorities outlined in Cameroon’s National Strategic Plan (NSP) for Malaria Control, 2019-2023:

Goal 

Reduce malaria-related morbidity and mortality by improving the capacity of the National Malaria Control Program and other local entities to lead the prevention, control, and elimination of malaria in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Beneficiaries 

SEMBE will offer general services to people living in the Far North Region including host population, refugees, and internally displaced persons. In addition, SEMBE will prioritize service packages for populations most vulnerable to malaria (children under five and pregnant women with specific packages), while working to expand health care to the most hard-to-reach populations.

Geographic Focus

Systems to End the Malaria Burden Through Meaningful Engagement (SEMBE) will focus on service delivery and health systems strengthening activities exclusively in the Far North Region of Cameroon.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for this NOFO is restricted to local entities (Cameroonian), subject to the terms and conditions mentioned in the NOFO. Local entities are defined in ADS 303.6(b) as follows:

Only Cameroonian Non-US organizations may participate under this NOFO, subject to terms and conditions mentioned in the NOFO.
