The United States Government, as represented by the United States Agency for International Development in Rwanda (USAID/Rwanda), is currently seeking applications from qualified and eligible organizations for a five-year activity – Youth Employment Project with an aim to increase stable employment opportunities, including self-employment, for male and female vulnerable youth, and to improve youth training and employment systems and increase investment in skills for vulnerable youth.
The primary purpose of the Youth Employment Project is to increase stable employment opportunities, including self-employment, for male and female vulnerable youth, and to improve youth training and employment systems and increase investment in skills for vulnerable youth.
Objectives
- Increase access to market relevant work readiness and employment services for vulnerable youth;
- Increase family planning and reproductive health information and services to vulnerable youth;
- Improve quality and relevance of entrepreneurship and market facilitation support services for vulnerable youth, especially in rural areas;
- Expand access to entrepreneurship support programs for vulnerable youth, especially in rural areas;
- Strengthen technical, financial, and operational capacity of the Akazi Kanoze Access entity to support local workforce/youth service institutions;
- Improve capacity of workforce development institutions to provide relevant, demand-driven employment services for vulnerable youth;
- Increase investments in skills development by Rwandan stakeholders; and
- Strengthen networks and information-sharing between public and private workforce development actors.
Funding Information
Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide approximately $20.5 million to be allocated over the 5-year period.
Eligibility Criteria
- There are no restrictions on eligibility for this solicitation.
- Qualified applicants may be any U.S. or non-U.S. organization, individual, non-profit, or for-profit entity.
- Faith-based and community organizations that fit the criteria above are also eligible to apply.
- In support of the Agency’s interest in fostering a larger assistance base and expanding the number and sustainability of development partners, USAID encourages applications from potential new partners.
- Recipients are not required to register with USAID or have previous experience with USAID.
- When considering making an award to an organization with limited or no previous USAID experience, USAID might determine to conduct a pre-award survey which is a risk assessment to determine the organization’s capabilities to complete the proposed activities.
