The Wellington Shire Council is currently accepting applications for the Australia Day Event Grants.
The Australia Day Event Grants for Community groups to conduct a ceremony to celebrate Australia Day can apply for funding. The level of support provided will depend on the capacity of the event to deliver outcomes that are beneficial to the Wellington Community, and reflect the purpose of Australia Day.
Grant funding is available for Australia Day celebrations that reflect contemporary Australia: the diverse society and landscape, the remarkable achievements and the bright future. Events also provide an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history, and to consider how they can make Australia an even better place in the future.
Eligibility Criteria
- Not-for-profit community groups operating in Wellington Shire.
- Applicant groups and community groups that are incorporated bodies or have an established legal entity.
- Applicants who have previously been successful in receiving funding and have completed all acquittals and complied with Council requirements prior to being considered for the current funding round.
What will NOT be funded?
- Events or activities that have not previously complied, or do not comply, with Council’s requirements.
- Event or activity debts, budget deficits or retrospective expenses.
- Scholarships and uniforms.
- Events or activities that deliver a religious or party-political message.
- Subscriptions to organisations.
- Events or activities held at gaming machine venues or commercial licensed venues.
- Events or activities which encourage consumption of alcohol.
