Wildlife Acoustics is seeking applications for its Grant program to support the advancement of animal biology research, habitat monitoring and environmental conservation.
Wildlife Acoustics is proud to offer a grant program that provides scientists with resources to help further their research into the study of bats, birds, frogs and other vocal wildlife. Grant recipients must be associated with a charitable, educational or other tax-exempt organization.
Funding Information
- Up to $5,000 is available to be awarded each quarter.
Criteria
Consideration will be given to projects that meet the following criteria:
- Project makes significant use of wildlife vocalization recordings for data collection and/or analysis.
- The work advances scientific knowledge and contributes to long-term conservation.
- The grant would have significant impact on the success of the project.
- The application provides adequate information to facilitate project evaluation, including detailed expected outcomes and the need for bioacoustics data to support those outcomes.
- The project must begin in the same year the application is submitted (or the following year if the application is submitted in the off-season).
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible
- US or Non-US government agencies are not eligible for the program.
- For each application, please include documentation that indicates tax exempt or non-profit status for your country.
- If you applied and were not awarded a grant in one quarter, you may re-apply in other quarters by resubmitting an application.
- Applicants may only apply for one project per quarter.
- Ineligible
- We do not grant cash or equipment other than our own. Submersible marine products including the SM3M Deep Water and Submersible recorders and related accessories are ineligible. SM2+, SM2BAT+, EM3+, SM3 and SM3BAT recorders and related accessories are also ineligible. SD cards, batteries and battery chargers carried in our store are not eligible.
Reporting Guidelines
You must email your quarterly and final reports to Wildlife Acoustics. Reports should include:
- General Information, such as date submitted and by whom.
Summary addressing the main findings, outcomes and successes of the project in 500 words or less. - Description of the project’s major goals and objectives, and how each was accomplished.
- Description of the impact your findings and/or accomplishments will have on conservation. Also include partnerships or collaborations that were created as a result of the project, and whether your findings and/or accomplishments influenced existing conservation/research priorities or policy.
- Description of the long-term implications of the project and next steps.
- Meaningful experiences/stories from the project that illustrates its impact/accomplishments. Additionally, include copies of published reports, journal articles, popular media articles, etc. if applicable.
- If possible, include photographs that describe the project. Please number photographs and include appropriate captions for each which detail basic information about the activity, animal or habitat in the photo, the picture’s significance, any people in the picture, and the photographer’s name (for photo credit).
