Can you help get free food to people in Chichester District who need it? Applications are now open for grants up to £2000 towards increasing the availability of free food to help people who are struggling.
The Partnership has already awarded funds to projects in Arun and are now looking for more initiatives that could help provide more food to the community in Chichester. Applicants have included schools, charities and community organisations. Projects could be new or extending existing local food projects.
Here are some that have been successful and a few other ideas they have:
- Piloting providing free school meals to children whose families are struggling but aren’t entitled to them (in term time or over Easter holidays)
- Buying additional food for meet increased demand
- Pilot of extending hours for free food provision
- Boxes of food to be given or delivered as needed to people accessing service from a charity
- Providing free hot meals in a community space or warm space
- Piloting a collection point in an underserved neighbourhood
- Piloting a breakfast club or after school food club, with free food for struggling families
- Purchase of culturally specific food
- Cookery classes with a shared meal and/or food to take away
Projects must be able to demonstrate additional services provided beyond giving out food – for example, signposting, advice and guidance or training.
Funding Information
- Groups can apply for up to £2000. The total fund is £20,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be submitted by community groups, charities or organisations supporting residents in Chichester District only.
- Organisations applying must be properly constituted and operate on a not-for-profit basis, with a bank account that requires at least two unrelated authorised signatories. If you are not a school or registered charity, they may require further information to support your application such as a copy of your organisation’s constitution.
- Projects or activities applied for must provide demonstrable outcomes that will directly benefit the target audience. Applicants must be supporting people to prevent or alleviate hardship, or planning to start this, with demonstrable capability to do so.
