The Two Ridings Community Foundation has launched the Yorkshire Coast Fund for Children and Young People to increase opportunities for children and young people to thrive in the area formerly known as the Borough of Scarborough District.
The Yorkshire Coast Fund for Children and Young People was established as a legacy of the visit of The Prince and Princess of Wales to Scarborough in 2022. Funds raised came from local donors keen to support the work of Two Ridings. Donors also want to make a long term impact on the wellbeing and aspirations of children and young people in the district.
Aims
- increase opportunities for children and young people.
- promote their good health and wellbeing.
Funding Information
- You can apply for up to £4,000.
- The fund will seek to distribute around £25,000 in small grants.
Type of activities they will fund
- Host community events
- Purchasing new equipment/materials
- Setting up a new pilot project / starting a new group
- Staffing costs/volunteer expenses/professional fees
- Transport Costs
How they will use the funds?
- The donations are a mixture of immediate and long term donations. Some will be used directly in the next three years. Others will be used to make grants in the region for ever, using returns from an endowment fund.This combination of funding and collective support by donors is typical of how community foundations work to maximise local giving for issues affecting different people and places.
Eligible Projects
- address local needs.
- be co-produced in partnership with local children and young people.
Eligibility Criteria
- Priority will be given to work which:
- Addresses needs identified by local people
- Fulfils needs not already being met
- Supports community involvement
- Projects where the grant covers the majority of the project costs
- Serve the communities based in the area previously known as Scarborough Borough Council.
- Have a management committee with at least 3 unrelated members.
- Be a voluntary organisation, community group, small charity or other not for profit organisation.
- Have a bank account in the group’s name (with two unrelated signatories).
Ineligible
- Private Businesses
- National organisations and their affiliates
- General appeals or sponsorship
- Work which has already started or taken place
- Work normally funded from statutory sources
- Work undertaken by/ on behalf of schools, colleges or universities as part of their statutory curricular activities
- Work undertaken by or on behalf of statutory bodies
- Work for the advancement of religion
- Work where the main beneficiaries are animals
- Work which does not directly benefit children and young people living in the area of benefit
- Overseas holidays or trips
