Nominations are now open for the Stop Slavery Award to recognise the wide range of actors dedicated to ending the scourge of modern slavery and human trafficking.
The award categories recognise innovators in this space, impactful collaborations between sectors, grassroots organisations on the front lines, journalists raising awareness of this under-reported issue, as well as small and medium-sized businesses who are rooting out forced labour from their supply chains.
Objective
- To create a virtuous cycle or positive paradigm by demonstrating that businesses can indeed play a critical role in stopping the tragedy of modern slavery worldwide
- to help guide consumers’ and customers’ decisions on what goods they decide to buy or use;
- to raise awareness about the issues of forced labour, the worst forms of child labour, and other forms of modern slavery;
- to inspire more companies to investigate and improve the working conditions of those at the bottom of their supply chains;
- to raise awareness of the invaluable work and effort of CSOs and grassroots organisations working on the front lines in the fight against modern slavery;
- to recognise and celebrate the impact that companies and organisations can have to influence policy and legislation;
- to advocate for a better outcome for the victims of modern slavery and human trafficking;
- to recognise the power of collaboration when different actors come together united through a common purpose and goal;
- to raise awareness of modern slavery through investigative journalism and reporting.
Categories
- Stop Slavery Enterprise Award – Goods and Service Companies- The Enterprise Award is open to goods and service companies that have taken concrete steps to eradicate forced labour from their supply chains.
- Stop Slavery Enterprise Award – Small and Medium-Sized Companies- The Enterprise Award is open to small and medium-sized businesses that have taken concrete steps to eradicate forced labour from their supply chains.
- Stop Slavery Hero Award- The Hero Award is open to grassroots organisations who have had a significant impact in the fight to eradicate slavery – whether on the frontlines, or on a global scale.
- Stop Slavery Collaboration Award- The Collaboration Award is open to organisations working through impactful partnerships to fight modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Stop Slavery Media Award- The Stop Slavery Media Award is open to journalists who have produced a highly impactful story, raising awareness and informing society about the often overlooked issue of modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Stop Slavery Innovation Award- The Innovation Award is open to organisations who can demonstrate an innovative approach in the fight to eradicate slavery – whether on the frontlines, or on a global scale.
Eligibility
- Stop Slavery Enterprise Award – Goods and Service Companies– Please apply if you:
- Are a goods or service company.
- For the purposes of this Award:
- “Goods companies” are companies that have commodities, or manufacturing, production or industrial processes in their supply chains or operations, or otherwise rely on manual labour.
- “Service companies” are those that sell services or intangible goods and products and do not rely on manufacturing or industrial processes in their supply chain and operations.
- For the purposes of this Award:
- Can demonstrate how you are a leader in the global fight against slavery: taking an active role in influencing policy, working on high impact anti-slavery initiatives, and being a thought leader in terms of commercial activities.
- These Awards are open to legally registered companies wherever they are based.
- Are a goods or service company.
- Stop Slavery Enterprise Award – Small and Medium-Sized Companies- Please apply if you:
- Are a small and medium-sized company.
- For the purpose of this Award, “Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)’’ are companies which employ fewer than 250 persons and which have an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euro, and/or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding 43 million euro.
- Can demonstrate that your business is taking steps to ensure you are going above and beyond your peers in the effort to eradicate forced labour, the worst forms of child labour, and other forms of slavery.
- This Award is open to legally registered companies wherever they are based.
- Are a small and medium-sized company.
- Stop Slavery Hero Award- Please apply if you:
- Are a grassroots civil society organisation.
- Stop Slavery Collaboration Award- Please apply if you:
- Are a government body; a public sector body; a civil society organisation; an academic institution; a company; or a social enterprise.
- Can demonstrate that your organisation has worked in collaboration or through partnership with another organisations resulting in a tangible impact to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Stop Slavery Media Award- Please apply if you:
- Stop Slavery Innovation Award- Please apply if you:
- Are a government body, a public sector body, a civil society organisation, an academic institution, a company, or an NGO.
- Can demonstrate that your organisation has demonstrated an innovative approach to addressing the issues around modern slavery and human trafficking.
