UNODC is pleased to invite NGOs, academics and private sector representatives from the Americas region to apply for the participation in the upcoming training on Stakeholder Engagement for the Implementation of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
- Equip participating non-governmental stakeholders with the requisite substantive knowledge about UNTOC provisions in order to achieve their meaningful participation in the Review Mechanism;
- Inform the participants about the methodology, entry points and available tools for engagement in the review process;
- Provide a platform for discussing joint actions to fight organized crime at the national and regional levels in support of their governments;
- Provide a platform for a constructive dialogue and sharing of experiences, network, build confidence and promote positive interaction among different non-governmental stakeholders in general and at the forthcoming COP10 meeting in Vienna, Austria, in October 2020.
Training dates: 21-24 July 2020
- This online training will be held in a dual mode. Part of the training is set in a synchronous mode and will involve live online plenaries, interactions among participants in breakout groups, and Q&A sessions.
- The synchronous part of the training will use available online communications technologies that allow instant communication, such as through the use of video conferencing and live chat.
- The remaining portion of the training is arranged in an asynchronous mode.
- The asynchronous part of the training involves materials that can be accessed anytime and can be studied self-paced, such as assigned readings and self-assessment tools.
- Only Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), academics and private sector based in the Americas can apply. All countries from the Americas can apply.
- Applicants must have vested interested in countering transnational organized crime, addressing at least one of the following issues:
- trafficking in persons,
- migrant smuggling, and
- firearms
