Deadline: 17-Nov-2025
Applicants are now invited to submit applications for its Residencies Programme to support professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation.
The residency offers a unique opportunity for the selected artist to develop new work in a self-led, process-based environment. The eleven-week, fully funded residency will take place at Gasworks in London from 8 April – 23 June 2026. Gasworks hosts up to twenty residencies each year, inviting artists from around the world to engage with the city, expand their networks, and focus on their artistic practice. Residents are supported administratively, pastorally, and curatorially, but are expected to take the lead on their own research and production throughout their stay.
The programme includes funding support, offering a weekly stipend of £175 to cover living expenses in London and a materials budget of up to £800. The artist will be provided with 24-hour access to a fully accessible private studio, single-room accommodation at the Gasworks Residency House, and economy return flights with transfers. Additional support includes visa costs, a weekly stipend, a materials budget, and a prepaid travel card for unlimited central London travel. The residency also ensures access to Gasworks’ tools and equipment, studio visits, networking opportunities, and an Open Studio event scheduled for 13 June 2026.
Eligibility is limited to early-career contemporary visual artists based in Spain who have at least a moderate level of spoken English and can confidently discuss their work in the language. Priority will be given to artists producing high-quality work who have not yet had the opportunity to work in London. The selection process involves application review by a panel of representatives from Gasworks and external advisors familiar with the contemporary art scenes in Spain and the UK, followed by online interviews with shortlisted candidates.
Gasworks encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and can provide fully accessible facilities and accommodation. However, due to limited resources, the program cannot accommodate artistic duos, collectives, partners, or children. Artists wishing to stay in London with their families may apply, provided they make independent arrangements for travel and accommodation. The deadline for application is 17 November 2025.
