Deadline: 01 December 2025
The Applied Power Electronics Conference is excited to announce the inaugural Student Demonstration Competition, inviting student teams from universities worldwide to showcase their innovative research in power electronics and related fields.
The competition welcomes submissions in diverse areas of power electronics, including advanced materials and devices, packaging innovations, high-efficiency converter technologies, reliability and diagnostics, applications in extreme environments, AI and machine learning integration, and emerging technologies.
This unique event, co-located with the APEC Exposition featuring over 300 companies, provides a platform for students to present practical demonstrations, interact with academic and industrial professionals, and build valuable connections within an international student network.
The top three teams will be honored with certificates and cash prizes, with the first-place team receiving $1,000, the second-place team $600, and the third-place team $400.
The competition encourages participation from student teams comprising up to three members, with only one member required to complete the online registration form. Selected teams must register for APEC 2026 to participate in the demonstration sessions scheduled for March 24 and March 25, 2026.
Teams will receive a $500 travel grant per team to assist with travel expenses, with reimbursement provided upon submission of valid receipts. Each team will be allocated approximately 5ft × 10ft of exhibition space in the APEC exhibition hall, free of charge.
Participants are encouraged to display hardware prototypes supported by posters, slides, or pre-recorded videos from their home institutions. However, due to safety regulations, live hardware operation is strictly prohibited within the exhibition area, and violations will lead to disqualification.
In addition to the demonstration sessions, team members and their faculty advisors will be invited to attend a sponsored dinner during APEC, fostering networking and collaboration opportunities.
The competition’s judging panel, comprising experts from both academia and industry, will evaluate entries based on originality and creativity, engineering design, practical impact and applicability, presentation quality, and audience engagement.
The deadline for applications is 1 December 2025.
