Ban Ki-Moon Centre for Global Citizens has launched Women‘s Empowerment Program for Asian Women to promote the Sustainable Development Goals and foster Women’s empowerment in their countries of origin by training their communication skills, crisis management and mediation competencies.
In 2019, the organization is inviting 5 women each of Afghanistan, Cambodia, Korea and Mongolia to become global citizens fellows and take part in the first edition of the BKMC Women’s Empowerment Program.
The full-time training will take place at the Diplomatische Akademie Wien, a centre of excellence for the study of International and European affairs, a renowned training institution for students and professionals from all over the world and a platform for international exchange.
This full-time training offer an environment in which young women can refine their ability to make sustainable change and grow their networks to become the leaders of tomorrow.
The regional focuses intend to create regional alumni networks that will connect the participants even after the training have been concluded. Such networks of future female decision-makers seek to strengthen the international relations among the regions to facilitate sustainable international cooperation for today’s and future generations.

- 20 full scholarships covering travel, accommodation, health insurance and fellowship expenses as well alimentation at the Diplomatic Academy and extracurricular activities organized by the BKMC and the Diplomatic Academy.

- All participants successfully completing the training will recewive an official Certificate of Completion.
Eligibility Criteria
- Women
- Age Group 22 – 35
- National and resident of Afghanistan, Mongolia, Cambodia, or from underprivileged and/or multi-cultural families of Korea
- Prerequisite academic degree: Bachelor’s degree or
- Higher academic background: interdisciplinary
- Proven dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals and/or Women’s Empowerment
- Minimum level of English language skills: B2
