Nominations Open for Global Water Awards 2019!

Nominations are open for the Global Water Awards 2019 which is sponsored by the Evoqua Water Technologies.

The winners of the 2019 Global Water Awards will be announced at the Global Water Summit on April 9th 2019 at the Natural History Museum, London.

Categories

  • Water Company of the Year: For the water company that made the most significant contribution to the development of the international water sector in 2018.
  • Desalination Company of the Year: For the desalination company which made the greatest overall contribution to the desalination industry in 2018.
  • Smart Water Company of the Year: For the desalination company which made the greatest overall contribution to the desalination industry in 2018.
  • Breakthrough Water Technology Company of the Year: For the early-stage technology company which made the most impressive commercial breakthrough in the global water technology market in 2018.
  • Water/Wastewater Project of the Year: For the water or wastewater treatment plant, commissioned during 2018 that shows the greatest innovation in terms of optimising its physical or environmental footprint.
  • Industrial Water Project of the Year: For the project, commissioned in 2018, that represents the most impressive technical or environmental achievement in the field of industrial water.
  • Municipal Desalination Plant of the Year: For the municipal desalination plant, commissioned during 2018, that represents the most impressive technical or ecologically sustainable achievement in the industry.
  • Industrial Desalination Plant of the Year: For the industrial desalination plant, commissioned during 2018, that represents the most impressive technical or ecologically sustainable achievement in the industry.
  • Water Deal of the Year: For the project finance deal, signed in 2018, which has made the biggest contribution to the advancement of private sector participation in the international water sector.
  • Water Leaders Award: For the most dramatic performance improvement in a water utility in the developing world in 2018.
  • Smart Water Project of the Year: For the project that most effectively harnessed digital solutions to achieve excellence in water or wastewater management in 2018.
  • Water Technology Company of the Year: For the company which has made the most significant contribution to the field of water technology in 2018.
  • 2019 Water Technology Idol: Presented to the early-stage company whose technology could change the future of the water market.

Criteria

  • Nominations are open to everyone.
  • Anyone (as an individual or on behalf of a company) can nominate a company, project, plant, technology, deal or initiative to be recognised by the Global Water Awards.
  • Individuals can submit nominations for themselves or others.
  • Individuals can nominate in as many categories as they want, and nominate multiple times in each category.
  • All nominee applications are made on a confidential basis.
  • Criteria for nominations (For all categories except The Water Leaders Award and Technology Idol 2019):
    • The company, project, or initiative must be able to demonstrate a significant contribution to the water industry. Specific factors to highlight are: improved operations and energy efficiency, technological innovation and the implementation of sustainable financial models.
    • The outcomes of the project or initiative must have been reported in 2018.
    • In the event that the company, project, or initiative is shortlisted after the nominations process, the company’s CEO should be available to attend the Global Water Awards Gala Dinner on 9 April, 2019 where the winner will be announced.
  • For Water Leaders Award: The Water Leaders’ Award goes to the publicly owned utility from a developing country that is able to demonstrate an outstanding step-change in performance improvement in 2018.
    • The utility must by publicly owned;
    • The utility must be from a developing country as defined by the United Nations;
    • The utility must be able to demonstrate a step-change in performance improvement in the 2018 period
    • In the event that the utility is shortlisted after the nominations process, the utility’s CEO should be available to attend the Global Water Awards Gala Dinner on 9 April, 2019 where the winner will be announced.
  • For Water Technology Idol 2019
    • The technology must be early stage and be able to demonstrate realistic expectations for commercialization.
    • In the event that the project is shortlisted after the nominations process, a senior representative from the company must be available to attend the Global Water Summit and make a 10 minute presentation at the designated session on the afternoon of Monday 9 April 2019. Nominee presentations will be followed by Q & A from the judges and attending delegate audience. The winner will then be determined by a live audience vote at the end of the session.
