The Global Health Advocacy Incubator invites Ugandan civil society organizations to support national drowning prevention efforts. About the Initiative
The program supports civil society organizations (CSOs) in Uganda to advocate for comprehensive drowning prevention policies and interventions. It strengthens national coordination across government ministries, promotes water safety, and raises public awareness to reduce drowning risks.
Key Focus Areas

National Drowning Prevention Strategy: Support the government in adopting and implementing a coordinated strategy to guide drowning prevention interventions.

Inland Water Act Regulations: Assist in drafting and implementing regulations to ensure safety on lakes and other major water bodies, protecting boat owners, operators, and users.

Water Safety and Survival Swim Curriculum: Partner with the Ministry of Education to integrate life-saving swim and water safety lessons into school programs.

Media Advocacy and Public Awareness: Generate demand for sustainable drowning prevention policies through targeted media campaigns, engaging communities and policymakers.

Eligible Applicants

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) registered in Uganda

Experience in health, policy, or advocacy initiatives, particularly:

Budget and immunization advocacy (for Objectives 1–3)

Media advocacy and public awareness campaigns (for Objective 4)

Legally capable of receiving foreign funds and fulfilling contractual obligations

NGOs affiliated with tobacco manufacturers or related entities are ineligible
How Organizations Will Contribute
Selected CSOs will:
