Applications are now open for the Community Cultural Development (CCD) Investment Program to support qualifying individuals, groups and organizations that offer high-quality arts and heritage initiatives for Port Coquitlam residents.
Purpose
- The CCD Investment Program acknowledges the contribution made by arts, heritage and culture within Port Coquitlam and assists in its development in order to:
- Demonstrate municipal leadership and enable cultural organizations to leverage funding sources.
- Encourage and support quality arts, heritage and cultural activities, which enhance the quality of life of Port Coquitlam residents.
- Increase public appreciation, access and participation in arts, heritage and cultural activity.
- Promote the continued development and expression of specific communities through art and cultural processes.
- Stimulate excellence in Cultural programming.
Types of Grants
- Development Grants
- Build capacity of artists and arts, culture and heritage organizations
- Support arts, culture and heritage initiatives in Port Coquitlam
- Create a healthy, engaged and vibrant community
- For any given application, the applicant must choose a grant stream. All applications are submitted online. Choose one of these three programs:
- Professional Development Program (up to $1,000): Individual artists, administrators and board members of arts, culture and heritage organizations that serve Port Coquitlam.
- Community Initiative Program (up to $2,500): Individuals, groups, and collectives without non-profit status planning arts, culture or heritage initiatives that benefit Port Coquitlam residents – these initiatives benefit the community
- Capacity Building Program (up to $5,000): Port Coquitlam arts, culture and heritage organizations with non-profit status. These grants support strategic organizational development and capacity to do their work.
- Project Category Grants
- Up to $5000 for non-profit organizations
- To support arts, cultural and heritage projects, programs planning events and festivals that take place in Port Coquitlam or are primarily focused on Port Coquitlam and its residents.
- Art, music and theatre schools operating as private businesses as long as the proposed project clearly demonstrates benefit to the community and the need for subsidy
General Guideline for all CCD Grants
- Organizations located in Port Coquitlam and mandated to serve the municipality have priority; however, region-serving groups that are so mandated can demonstrate relevance, need, and non-duplication of services provided by Port Coquitlam-based organizations are considered. Exceptions are possible if the project provides services or benefits to the residents of Port Coquitlam.
- Services and activities receiving assistance under the CCD Investment Program should benefit Port Coquitlam and be inclusive and non-discriminatory.
- Adherence to a standard of excellence with respect to ethical behaviour when involving the public is expected (e.g. safety training/insurance for public events; policies and/or processes for the safety of participating young people; necessary protocols when working with First Nations)
- In-kind contributions (such as subsidized access to cultural facilities) are taken into consideration when assessing funding allocations.
- Recipients must adhere to a standard of excellence concerning ethical behaviour when involving the public (e.g. safety training/insurance for public events; policies and processes for the safety of participating young people; necessary protocols when working with First Nations).
- Organizations providing services that duplicate existing City programs and services may not be funded unless there is a demonstrated need.
- Applicants may submit more than one application per year, provided the funding request is not for the same project or initiative. Outstanding projects or initiatives have been completed, with the final report submitted.
- All categories require a final report to ensure accountability and will be required to submit financial statements.
- The Port Coquitlam Community Foundation and the City of Port Coquitlam Community Fund CCD Investment Program must be acknowledged by recipients in promotional materials.
