The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Jordan is seeking Call for Expression of Interest (EOIs) to identify eligible community-based organizations national or international non-governmental organizations (NNGOs and INGOs) for potential partnership with UNICEF Jordan.
UNICEF Jordan seeks to protect and support all children in Jordan, with a focus on the most vulnerable and hardest to reach. Jordan faces urgent concerns due to depletion of scarce water resources, high numbers of children out of school and involved in labour, rising rents and commodity prices, and limited capacity of the health care and education sectors to meet the current needs, affecting Jordan’s ability to maintain its historic role in the Middle East as a nation of refuge.
The programme will allow talented youth to further develop their skills and ideas.
- First, a three-month intensive training programme in human centred design will be provided, with three training elements:
- Needs assessment
- Design process
- Pilot process
- Second, youth with have access to three types of employment opportunities:
- Youth may start a social enterprise/ business. Youth may propose ideas that they wish to take forward; humanitarian organization may also issue “design challenges” to inspire youth to develop new solutions for clear gaps in existing programming;
- Humanitarian agencies may hire youth for assessment or design work;
- Technology companies may employ youth to lead on user-testing of products targeting refugees
Eligibility Criteria
NGO must:
- Be registered in Jordan
- Proof of government permission to operate in Za’atari and Azraq camps
- Not be an entity named on any of the UN Security Council targeted sanction lists.
Selection Criteria
The UNICEF Jordan office will review the evidence provided by the NGO and assess applications based on the following criteria
- Proposal relevance, quality and coherence: Includes review of the proposed programme:
- Relevance of proposal to achieving expected results
- Clarity of activities and expected results.
- Institutional capacity and sustainability: Includes a review of the NGO:
- Expertise and experience in the sector/area
- Local experience, presence and community relations
- Management ability
- Experience working with UN/UNICEF
- Other: Includes a review of:
- Consideration around partner contributions to project
- Considerations around access to, and relationships with communities
- Considerations of national and international networks that could support the work
