The Government of Canada is currently accepting applications for its Enabling Accessibility Fund for small projects.
This Fund supports the capital costs of construction, renovation and/or retrofit activities in workplaces and communities, as well as the provision of accessible technologies in:
- Workplace stream: facilities where people with disabilities work, or could work in the future; and,
- Community Accessibility stream: community spaces where programs and/or services are offered, or will be offered, to people with disabilities.
The objective of the Enabling Accessibility Fund’s small projects component is to increase accessibility for people with disabilities in Canadian communities and workplaces. More specifically, it seeks to create more opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the Canadian labour market, as well as in community programs and services.
Funding Information
Requested funding from ESDC does not exceed $100,000.
Project Duration
The project duration is no longer than 52 weeks (one year).
Eligible Activities
Activities relate to the construction, renovation, retrofit, or the provision of accessible technologies, in:
- facilities where people with disabilities work or could work in the future, or,
- community spaces where programs and/or services are offered, or will be offered, to people with disabilities.
Eligible Recipients
- Not-for-profit organizations, including social enterprises
- Businesses(maximum 99 full-time equivalent employees)
- Small municipalities (population under 125,000 as per most recent census data (2016)
- Indigenous organizations (including band councils, tribal councils and self-government entities)
- Territorial governments.
