The Cedar Tree Foundation is now accepting inquiries for a third round of grants in the Children’s Environmental Health Initiative, which will be awarded in late Fall 2019.
The 2019 docket will focus on non-profit organizations working in communities of color to protect and improve children’s health by addressing exposures to toxic chemicals in products and the environment. The Cedar Tree Foundation will place special emphasis in this docket on awarding grants to organizations whose leadership (staff/board) and programs reflect the communities they serve, with a priority placed on organizations led by people of color.
The Cedar Tree Foundation’s Children’s Environmental Health Initiative supports campaigns and programs designed to reduce children’s exposures to toxic chemicals in products and in their environments. The Foundation recognizes that toxic chemicals pose a threat to all people, especially children, and the government does not do an adequate job protecting children from these hazards. Cedar Tree also recognizes that communities of color are most often and most deeply impacted by environmental threats.
Funding Information
The Cedar Tree Foundation plans to award 5-7 grants in 2019. Each grant will likely be within the $70,000 – 100,000 per year range, for 3 years.
Criteria
- The Cedar Tree Foundation only funds registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations for work in the United States.
- The Foundation expect the majority of these grants to be project support grants for organizations who work on children’s environmental health as one of a wider range of issues, but they are open to general support grants if applicant’s organizational mission relates directly to children’s environmental health.
- This Call is open to funding local, grassroots efforts as well as national projects.
- Please note, if applicants are seeking a project support grant, Cedar Tree will still look at your staff and board for leadership by people of color as a way to be sure that we are raising the voices of communities of color within this docket.
- Organization budget restriction: organizations applying for Cedar Tree’s 2019 Children’s Environmental Health Initiative must have an organizational budget between $250,000 and $10 million.
