Deadline: 9 September 2019
The Tomberg Family Philanthropies is seeking applications for its grant program with an aim to support projects in the areas of education, the environment, health and poverty alleviation.
The Focus of Tomberg Family Philanthropies is on supporting projects that help their recipients build capabilities themselves that will last far beyond the end of the specific project.
The Tomberg Family Philanthropies is an umbrella organization for all the philanthropy of the Tomberg family. The primary grant making consists of two separate charitable funds, The Marty Tomberg Charitable Fund and the Philip and Helen Brecher Charitable Fund.
Due to the limited size and number of their grants, they normally are not able to support ongoing operations of existing programs. The foundation looks for funding opportunities such as pilot programs, support of new programs, capacity building, evaluations, Etc. that allow them to make a larger difference with limited funds than would be possible otherwise.
In most cases, the foundation initially will make grants to support individual projects only. They generally will not make grants to fund the general operational expenses of non-profit organizations. After the first year, if continued funding is approved, a portion of the grants may be designated for capacity building efforts. The Foundation does not make grants to religious organizations or to fund projects run by religious organizations.
