The Burton Wold Community Wind Farm Fund offers grants to support projects that benefit residents living in the parishes of Burton Latimer and Cranford, near the wind farm site. The fund is intended to last for the lifetime of the wind farm and aims to enhance local community life.
Grants can be used for a wide range of projects, including those focused on education, the environment, charitable efforts, and community amenities. Funding is available for both new initiatives and to support or expand existing work.
Examples of eligible projects include training and volunteering schemes, creation or maintenance of green spaces like pocket parks, arts and heritage preservation, youth clubs, and community safety programs.
Applicants must be based in Burton Latimer or Cranford, and projects must directly benefit residents in these areas. Grants of up to £5,000 are available, although larger projects may also be considered depending on the proposal.
Both revenue and capital projects are eligible. Applications are welcomed from small, locally managed voluntary, community, or self-help groups. Parish Councils may also apply, as long as the activities are non-statutory.
Social enterprises with persons with significant control (PSC) are generally not eligible. Groups must involve volunteers who are not on the management committee and should have a written constitution or set of rules. Support is available for new groups that need help setting this up.
