Vancouver Heritage Foundation is seeking applications for the Yosef Wosk Publication Grant Program.
Vancouver Heritage Foundation recognizes the diverse history and cultural heritage of Vancouver and that the city is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.
The Yosef Wosk Publication Fund has been established with Vancouver Heritage Foundation (VHF) through a generous donation from Dr. Yosef Wosk. The Yosef Wosk Publication Grant program has been setup to support new, original publications on Vancouver’s history and heritage places, and their conservation. A variety of media can be eligible for support through the program including printed books, digital publications and film.
The Yosef Wosk Publication Grant program aims to support projects in reaching completion by assisting with a variety of professional services and fees such as editing, graphic design, technical drawing, reproduction and permission fees. The grant can be used to support a defined phase of a larger project.
Objectives
The program’s objective is to support new, original publications on aspects of Vancouver’s heritage places, their conservation and related topics to increase public awareness, knowledge and appreciation. Projects supported by the program could include those that:
- Record and document information about Vancouver’s past and cultural heritage, its architectural history and heritage places;
- Share heritage conservation techniques and case studies with specific relevance and reference to Vancouver;
- Further the understanding of the value of historic buildings and sites to the culture, economy and sustainability of Vancouver and its communities.
- Addresses gaps in the available research and materials for diverse audiences (eg. Students, younger learners, multilingual)
Funding Information
Individual grants can be up to $10,000.
Eligible projects
The program invites applications for funding for a wide variety of projects and from individuals and organizations. Supported publication projects will have a tangible long-lasting product and aim to increase public awareness, knowledge and appreciation of heritage places or heritage conservation in Vancouver. This can include cultural landscapes and intangible cultural heritage. The finished project should have a permanent format and be publicly accessible, and have a plan for distribution. An individual project can only receive one Yosef Wosk Publication Grant and must be completed before the same applicant can reapply to the program.
Eligible projects could include (but are not limited to):
- Print and online books or booklets
- Technical guides
- Videos or documentary films
- Websites
- Audio publications
Eligible applicants
- Applications to the program can be made by one or more of the following:
- Individuals – one or more
- Registered non-profit societies and federally-registered charities
- Organizations must be a registered non-profit society in good standing in Canada.
- A principal contact must be identified in the application for all communication on behalf of the applicant(s) but all contributors to the project must also be identified.
