Deadline: 09-Sep-20
The Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco (KACF-SF) is inviting applications for the Community Grants Program to support nonprofit organizations that serve the Korean American community in the greater Bay Area through grant making and other initiatives.
Community Grants enable KACF-SF to partner with and support community-based organizations that are on the front lines and making a difference.
The Foundation prioritizes programs that are addressing the critical needs of under-served and under-resourced in the communities, particularly low-income individuals and families, immigrants, survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence, the elderly, and disadvantaged youth.
Program Areas
- Physical & Mental Health: KACF-SF funds organizations and programs working to help individuals and families to improve physical and mental health. The Foundation is particularly interested in organizations and programs that are focused on providing mental health counseling and support services, access to health insurance and benefits, community education on health and wellness, and support services to promote socio-emotional health of individuals with physical, mental and developmental disabilities and their families.
- Senior Care & Empowerment: KACF-SF supports organizations and programs that help seniors become self-sufficient and offer comprehensive support including but not limited to English as Second Language, access to government benefits, and group activities that promote socio-emotional and physical well-being. Particular consideration will be given to programs that engage Korean American seniors not as service recipients but as active participants in their community, as well as programs that have an inter-generational model.
- Safety: KACF-SF supports organizations and programs that are working to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking to achieve emotional and physical safety. They are particularly interested in programs that are focused on counseling, comprehensive support services, and community education and advocacy focused on prevention and victims’ rights.
- Youth Empowerment: KACF-SF supports organizations and programs that promote healthy decision-making and empowerment to young people up to age 21. They are particularly interested in organizations and programs that promote skills-based learning, critical thinking skills, leadership, community service and engagement, and academic achievement, including access to post-secondary education. Additionally, KACF-SF seeks to support programs that provide continuity, structure, a sense of group membership, peer learning and opportunities to lead. Particular consideration will be given to programs that serve low-income youth.
- Civic Engagement: KACF-SF supports organizations and programs that are working to increase civic engagement and participation for a healthy democracy. It is critical that communities are engaged to work together to make a difference in the civic life of Korean communities through increased knowledge, skills, values and motivation to continue to make a difference. They are particularly interested in programs that are focused on methods to overcome barriers to civic participation and spur increased individual engagement in various civic activities that range from volunteerism to advocacy.
