Deadline: 28-Sep-20
UrbanArt Commission (UAC) is proud to issue a second call for short project proposals from artists to make and share their work.
The events of 2020 have challenged us to reconsider how we move through the world, how we care for one another, and how we think about our place in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, along with renewed demands for racial justice, has led to an unprecedented year of mourning, reflection, mutual aid, and activism.
All we need to know is: What message do you most want to share with your friends, neighbors, and fellow Memphians during this time? How would you creatively share this message with your community?
Funding Information
- Budget: $500 project grants available for 20 artists or artist teams
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to all artists living and working within the Memphis metropolitan area. Artists are invited to submit collaborative work if desired.
- Visual artists, performing artists, writers, and art educators are all encouraged to apply.
- Musicians may apply with mixed-media projects; emergency grants for music-only projects are available through Music Export Memphis.
- Crosstown Arts have also launched Against the Grain, a donation-based streaming platform designed to directly support local musicians.
Project Guidelines
- The events of 2020 have challenged them to reconsider how they move through the world, how they care for one another, and how they think about their place in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, along with renewed demands for racial justice, has led to an unprecedented year of mourning, reflection, mutual aid, and activism.
- In response to this moment, UAC is proud to issue a second call for short project proposals from artists to make and share their work. All they need to know is: What message do you most want to share with your friends, neighbors, and fellow Memphians during this time? How would you creatively share this message with your community?
- 20 projects will be selected and awarded $500. Projects must be completed in 2020 and be virtually shareable by UAC (documentation of a site-specific project, live streams, web-based content, etc). Proposed projects should not require additional funding.
- Your safety and the safety of your community is their priority. All projects should maintain social distancing protocols. Please refer to the current guidelines from the WHO, CDC, and the City of Memphis when creating and sharing your work, and let us know if you have any questions.
