The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is seeking proposals from eligible entities for a program entitled “Child Labour in Agriculture Study” with an aim to support the Government of Lebanon in implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) against Worst forms of child labour and in order for UNICEF and FAO to plan and implement support programmes targeting underprivileged families to increase their resilience to threats and crisis though social protection interventions, hitting the root causes for child labour problem.
The survey should be geographically representative covering all Lebanese governments. The present study shall collect detailed information on the work that children perform in agriculture, on their age, gender, on the wages they receive if they do, on the advantages of having children at field work.
The actual situations of worst forms of child labour results from the intertwined relationship between the current characteristics of the agricultural sector in Lebanon and the displacement of Syrians in Lebanon. Worst forms of child labour in agriculture such as hazardous child labour and children trapped in debt bondage has become a plague in Lebanon among Syrian children.
The refugee crisis may have also unveiled ignored pre-existing forms of child labour in agriculture among Lebanese host communities. Addressing child labour in agriculture in this protracted crisis in Lebanon represents a particularly complex challenge.
Eligible Criteria
Firms are required to fulfill the following mandatory requirements in order to participate. Failure to provide such information/evidence will result in the disqualification.
- Provide documentary evidence that the firm has conducted at least two surveys of a global nature in the past three years including developing, conducting, analyzing and presenting a global survey of stakeholders.
- Provide documentary evidence in form of a final survey report that your firm has conducted one survey or more of similar nature in different regions with particular focus in MENA region.
- Provide documentary evidence in form of a final survey report that your firm has conducted at least one survey in the child labour in developing countries.
- Provide documentary evidence that the firm particularly the personnel that assigned to conduct the survey have experience in conducting and analyzing surveys in child labour and the capacity to work in English-including at least two CV of assigned personnel.
