The Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) is now inviting applications for its Major Grants are sometimes collaborative, with financial support from another philanthropic funder.
Pride Foundation Australia (PFA – formerly GALFA) is a national philanthropic foundation specifically focused on funding lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and other (LGBTQIA+) community issues in Australia.
The Foundation actively works to increase philanthropic support for the Australian LGBTQIA+ and allied communities through fundraising, grant giving, collaboration and commissioning projects.
Pride Foundation Australia has a dedicated focus on advancing equity for the most disadvantaged LGBTQIA+ Australians, including advocating for systemic change and LGBTQIA creative arts.
Funding Information
- The PFA Board of Directors and the Sidney Myer Fund are pleased to announce the next joint funding round, to the value of $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following general criteria must be met when applying for funds:
- The activity seeking funding must be either solely or chiefly focused on the good and betterment of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex people and allied communities in Australia.
- All grant applications have to meet the funding priorities as set from time to time by the Foundation.
- Commonly the Major Grants are Suited to Projects Including:
- Community development
- Education initiatives
- Applied, community-led research with tangible outcomes in the field
- Events or conferences
- The grants are not intended to support capital and building works, vehicles, furniture or equipment, general fund-raising, travel, books or religious activities.
- DGR Status
- Organisations are usually required to have DGR1 (Deductible Gift Recipient-Item 1) and TCC (Tax Concession Charity) status from the Australian Tax Office.
- Groups without DGR1 or TCC status may apply through an organisation that has DGR1 and TCC that agrees to auspice the project. Prior to making a grant for an auspiced project, there needs to be an auspice agreement between the project proposer and auspice organisation that is acceptable to the Foundation.
