The Embassy of Finland, in Lusaka is inviting Zambian civil society organizations and private companies to apply for funding from the Fund for Local Cooperation with an aim to promote a more dynamic and responsible private sector.
The Embassy is particularly interested in initiatives that promote agribusiness and/or forestry, access to sustainable energy and/or waste management and recycling.
Project Types
- Development, piloting or scaling up of commercial innovations that helps to improve the welfare of people in Zambia.
- Feasibility studies for investment projects and/or business models. (Note: The Embassy will not consider concept notes for feasibility studies for concessional credit schemes and export credit schemes originating from Finland.)
Funding Information
- The proposed budget range is from € 50 000 to € 150 000. The concept note should include a budget estimate.
- The Embassy may fund 1-3 well-targeted, result-based projects with a duration ranging from 1 to 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Actors
- Local civil society and private sector organizations, i.e. Chambers of Commerce, business associations, trade promotion agencies, training institutions, producer cooperatives, etc.
- Local private companies, including cooperatives and social enterprises.
- All actors should be registered entities with a good track record.
- Support to local private companies’ for-profit operations and private sector business partnerships with Finnish companies and other commercial entities are subject to a number of special provisions in comparison with CSO applicants. FLC funding can also be granted to a private company with a not-for-profit project.
- Eligible Projects
- The proposed project contributes to the objectives of the Finnish Development Policy and of Finland’s country Program for Zambia, and the objective specified for this Call for Proposals.
- The project leads to verifiable development and Human Rights impacts and fulfils the Official Development Aid (ODA) criteria.
- The project is feasible, well-targeted and sustainable, with clear objectives and expected results.
- The project can build on the current or earlier implemented initiatives/programs supported by Finland to further enable the sustainability of those interventions.
