The EastLeigh Borough Council is currently seeking applications for its Social Value: Employment & Skills Grants.
One Horton Heath is an Eastleigh Borough Council led mixed-use development. As part of this project contractors are committed to deliver on Social Value outcomes. These can be offers of employability support, funding or equipment / resource donations to local groups.
Funding Information
- The first offering comes from Ecogen Energy who are kindly donating a 4KW PV system of roof solar panels. A 4KW unit will generate approximately 4,000kw per year (in monetary value based on current figures this is around £1500per year if all of the electricity is used on site). This would best be located on a building of one or two floors.The surface area for the equipment is 18m2 (inc. 10 – 12 panels and associated equipment) and needs an unshaded roof on which to be installed. The inverter would need to be installed either also on the roof or within the building and is 1m2. The cost value of this equipment is approximately £6,000 – £10,000.

Eligibility Criteria
- Non-profit making community groups, voluntary organisations, trusts, friendly societies, social enterprises and community interest companies can apply provided that, in all cases, their objectives are charitable as defined by the Charity Act 2006. Community centres, managed by the local council or independently run can also apply for this grant. All applicants must provide a service directly, offer advice/information or promote self-help and must have a wide community benefit and be open to anyone.
- The group will need to have a constitution (set of rules), a bank account in its own name (which requires at least two signatures on each cheque) and a set of accounts for the last two years. The group will also need to have adequate insurance and ensure that appropriate checks are carried out on staff and volunteers if they work with vulnerable groups.
