Deadline: 31-May-23
The One Club for Creativity – in partnership with first-generation Filipinx designer and Young Guns 8 winner Rich Tu – is ecstatic to open a third exciting season of Colorful, the worldwide portfolio competition aimed at putting BIPOC creative professionals in the spotlight en route to even further acclaim in the globally renowned Young Guns 21.
COLORFUL is a unique creative competition created in the mold of Young Guns, one of the industry’s most recognized and influential honors for young creative professionals. Because winning Young Guns can have a dramatic effect on one’s career, COLORFUL seeks to highlight young BIPOC creative talent, giving them the opportunity and confidence to shine ahead of entering Young Guns and other such platforms.
In 2021, acclaimed designer and artist Rich Tu partnered with The One Club for Creativity, launched COLORFUL, a global portfolio competition and grant program to help young BIPOC creatives advance their careers. Winners not only receive cash prizes to fund their creative pursuits, but they also receive free entry into Young Guns, the globally recognized competition for creatives 30 years and under — an accolade that both Rich and Tré have won over the years.
All winners and finalists also receive free entry into the Young Guns 21 competition. In addition, the first ten COLORFUL entrants will also receive free entry into Young Guns 21.
Prizes Information
COLORFUL not only serves as a gateway to the renowned Young Guns competition, but it also provides prize grants for its top finishers.
- 1st Prize: $3,000.00 USD
- 2nd Prize: $2,000.00 USD
- 3rd Prize (2x): $1,000.00 USD
BIPOC & Latinx
- BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color. This includes Asians, Pacific Islanders, Middle Eastern, North African, and Latinx individuals.
- Latinx is a gender-neutral term used to describe people of Latin descent. This includes but is not limited to Latin descendants of Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, and can often refer to those of Iberian descent.
- BIPOC people are frequently underrepresented in Western creative industries in general and in the Young Guns family of winners in particular. COLORFUL seeks to address that underrepresentation. Please take all of this into consideration when entering.
Eligibility Criteria
- Colorful is free to enter for BIPOC creatives who meet the qualifications of entering Young Guns – 30 years of age and under with at least two years of professional experience under their belts – but haven’t yet won Young Guns.
- But COLORFUL doesn’t just prepare creative professionals for a chance at Young Guns glory; top winners also receive cash grants to put towards their own personal passion projects. Use it for post-production on a short film, to upgrade your hardware, or even to help cover rent while you pursue your creative dreams. It’s all up to you!
