The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation

The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation commonly known as Norad is a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose main purpose is to ensure that Norwegian development aid funds are spent in the best possible way, and to report on what works and what does not work.

Norad grants funding to organisations within civil society, research, higher education and private sector development that work with partners in poor countries.

  • The Norwegian Climate and Forest funding to civil society Grant Schemes for International Organisations and Networks
  • NORHED: NORHED is the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development.
  • EnPe: The EnPe 2013-2019 programme is an independent supplement to Norad’s NORHED-programme, within the fields of energy and petroleum.
  • Private Sector Development: Norad has two funding schemes to support private sector development in development countries.
