Applications are open for the Future For Nature Awards 2017 with an aim to support young, talented and ambitious conservationists committed to protecting species of wild animals and plants or conservation of nature.
The Award aims to provide both a reward for achievements and an incentive to continue species protection work. In this respect, “end of career” candidates will not be excluded, but the chances of becoming an Award winner are less.
Benefits
- The prize should be used towards a conservation project of the winner’s own choice.
- Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the Future For Nature Foundation.
Past Winners receive
The three winners of the Future For Nature Awards 2016 receive about €50,000 for their vital work.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates from all over the world can qualify. Please note that the Future For Nature Award is awarded to individuals, not to organizations.
- The candidate should not be older than 35 years on the 30th of April 2017, i.e. born after 30th of April 1982.
- The candidate has achieved substantial and long-term benefit to the conservation status of one or more animal and/or plant species or that of a specific population of one or more animal and/or plant species.
- The candidate has demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurship in his/her conservation work.
- The candidate has been creative and innovative in his/her work.
- The main approaches in his/her work have proven to be cost-effective.
- Work related to the conservation and protection of endangered species gives priority.
