The Institute of International Education (IIE) is currently accepting applications from Syrian youth, both women and men, for a small number of scholarships to Syrian refugee youth for undergraduate university studies at public universities in Jordan. The successful applicants will be awarded scholarships to help enable them to complete their undergraduate degrees, with duration and amount varying based on the needs of the students. Housing will not be included in any of the scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria
- Necessary qualifications:
- currently live in a refugee camp or elsewhere in Jordan.
- registered as a refugee with UNHCR.
- have completed at least three, preferably four or five semesters, of full time undergraduate education in good standing, in Syria, Jordan, or another country.
- have all original documents required by the Jordanian universities for enrollment or re-enrollment.
- Preferred qualifications:
- majoring in fields of study that could be particularly useful to the Syrian refugee community after graduation, such as education (including teaching), social work, sciences (including but not limited to nursing and psychology), and languages (English, Arabic, and other languages).
- have a proven track record of community service and committed to community service upon completion of a university degree.
Note: Only students who have successfully completed at least three semesters of university study in Syria, Jordan, or another country will be eligible for the scholarships.
