International Social Science Council announces seed grant on Transformative Knowledge Networks for Transformations to Sustainability Programme. This programme is to address today’s issues and challenges of global environmental change. It will enable social scientists to enhance knowledge networks which will strengthen sustainability research.
The thematic focus of the research activities supported by the programme is on processes of deep social change and needs and opportunities for transformation to more sustainable and equitable societies.
The ISSC is an independent non-government organization established by UNESCO in 1952. It is the primary body representing the social, economic and behavioral sciences at an international level. ISSC’s mission is to increase the production and use of social science knowledge for the well-being of societies throughout the world.
Objectives
- Increase the use of such knowledge by policy makers, practitioners, the private sector, citizens and activists
- Engage and communicate effectively with the public
- Craft more effective, durable and equitable solutions to the problems of global change and sustainability Create a Global Knowledge Trust on social transformations
Funding Information: ISSC provides up to 900,000 Euro to each Knowledge Network over the span of three years.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must be a social scientist from a low or middle-income country (including high middle-income countries), according to World Bank classification.
