In 2015, humanitarian assistance continued to assist those in greatest need, including the victims of conflicts in Syria, Central African Republic and South Sudan, the survivors of natural disasters in Asia, populations affected by food insecurity in the Sahel and vulnerable groups trapped in ‘forgotten’ crises such as the plight of Colombian refugees or the conflict in Kachin in Myanmar/Burma.
ECHO operates by funding humanitarian aid projects implemented by IOs, UN agencies, and NGOs registered in a Member State of the European Union and specialized in the humanitarian field. In order to be financed by ECHO’s humanitarian aid funding, applicants must gain a partnership with ECHO by signing a Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA).
