The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) is seeking applications to “Strengthening the Sustainability and Capacity of Organizations Dealing with IDP Issues” Competition.
The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) with the financial support of the EU launched the project ” European Renaissance of Ukraine : a civil society initiative for sustainability and recovery”. The goal of this project is to strengthen the contribution of civil society to the stability, recovery and integration of Ukraine into the EU.
The International Renaissance Foundation has been a Framework Partner of the European Union in Ukraine since December 2019. The next step in cooperation is the announcement of the contest “Strengthening the sustainability and capacity of organizations dealing with issues of internally displaced persons.”
Purpose
The purpose of the “Strengthening the Sustainability and Capacity of Organizations Dealing with IDP Issues” competition: to strengthen the sustainability and effectiveness of public and volunteer associations that work for the adaptation and integration of IDPs into communities, as well as to strengthen their networking capacity, help cohesion and increase visibility.
Funding Information
- The total budget of the competition is UAH 5,580,000.
- The optimal amount of the grant is UAH 400,000-500,000.
- The maximum term of project implementation is 6 months.
- It is expected that up to 12 organizations will be supported, with the opportunity to start operations in mid-June 2023.
Eligible Projects
- It is assumed that, with the support of the projects, initiatives will be implemented, which will include:
- Preserving the institutional stability of organizations and associations, supporting the systematic and focused work of teams;
- Promoting networking and building partnerships (including sharing of experiences, dissemination of practices) as a tool to help IDPs and strengthen each other’s voice in the decision-making process;
- creation of platforms for public discussions (proposals of better solutions, activation of information exchange, involvement of IDPs through their informal communication channels, issues of attracting resources, possible safe return to the abandoned place of residence and further reintegration, etc.);
- projects may also include components related to cohesion and better integration of IDPs into life in the territorial communities where they currently live and plan to stay for a long time; consolidation of their efforts regarding the possibility of decision-making at the local level, including through support for the preparation and implementation of IDP initiatives, innovative and creative activities; development of specific strategies and programs for the integration of IDPs; development and implementation of initiatives and campaigns aimed at reducing tension in host communities, etc.
- Additional preference will be given to those project proposals that involve a participatory approach (involvement of IDP representatives in discussions and decision-making, etc.), as well as demonstrate confirmed broad partnerships (involvement in the implementation of other specialized organizations, state authorities and local self-government bodies).
Eligibility Criteria
- Contest participants: Public organizations, public unions, and charitable organizations that have experience in practical and systematic work with IDPs are invited to participate in the contest.
- Applications are welcome from organizations that have been relocated from the frontline or temporarily occupied territories, and which manage to unite and build around themselves cells from representatives of their communities / cities, support people, strengthening their capacity to protect their rights and interests as IDPs.
- Contest participants can be registered in any region of Ukraine. Please note that support can be provided only to those organizations that carry out activities in the territories/communities under the control of the state authorities of Ukraine.
Criteria
- Criteria for selecting the winners of the competition:
- Substantive compliance of the project proposal with the purpose and priorities of the competition;
- Having experience in implementing similar projects (projects aimed at supporting IDPs);
- Qualitative preliminary analysis of the problems and needs of the target groups with which the organization will work within the project;
- the realism of the project, the existence of a clear plan for its implementation, the determination of the expected results and the realism of their achievement thanks to the project activity;
- Availability of objective indicators of monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of project activities;
- The presence of a communication component in the project, the ability to disseminate information about its results to wide circles of the public;
- Compliance of the budget with the declared activity, reasonableness.
