Deadline: 01-Dec-2025
The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund provides grants to voluntary organisations to aid research into learning disability and to support the care and relief of individuals affected by learning disabilities.
The fund focuses on capital building, renovation and refurbishment works for residential, nursing and respite care, and schools; employment schemes including woodwork, crafts, printing and horticulture; play schemes and play therapy schemes; day and social activities centres including building costs and running costs; support for families including respite schemes; independent living schemes; support in the community schemes; and Snoezelen rooms.
The fund awards grants starting from £250, with the amount depending on the purpose, total funding requirement, and other potential funding sources, including matching funds where applicable. Eligible applicants include charities and organisations dedicated to research, care, and relief of those affected by learning disabilities. The fund considers projects that benefit both children and adults with conditions generally referred to as severe learning difficulties, together with autism.
The fund does not normally support hospices, minibuses except for residential or day care services for the learning disabled, advocacy or arts projects, conductive education projects, swimming or hydrotherapy pools, or physical disabilities unless accompanied by significant learning disabilities. Grants for acquired brain injury are only considered if learning disabilities occur early in the developmental period.
