Deadline: 20-Nov-2025
Are you a young activist or journalist from Serbia or Bosnia and Herzegovina who is interested in art, social change and the power of storytelling? Join them for a three-day workshop on the role of media and art in dealing with the past at the History Museum in Sarajevo.
This interactive three-day workshop explores how media and art can become powerful tools for reconciliation and dealing with the past. Through carefully designed sessions, participants will gain practical knowledge and experience in the fields of intercultural reporting, storytelling and artistic activism (artivism), using creativity as a bridge for dialogue and understanding between communities.
The workshop will be led by experienced mentors in the fields of human rights, transitional justice, media and artistic activism, and participants will develop skills in intercultural reporting and storytelling, designing artistic initiatives for reconciliation, practical dialogue and creative collaboration.
The workshop will end with a joint multimedia exhibition, which will present the works and reflections of the participants created during the three-day process. After the workshop, four participants will be selected to write media or literary texts that will unify the common messages and conclusions of the young workshop participants – giving voice to a new generation that believes in the power of dialogue and regional reconciliation.
The workshop will gather up to 30 young people aged 18 to 30 who are active in activism, art, or journalism. Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from experts in media, arts, and transitional justice while collaborating with peers from both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The sessions will be immersive and practical, encouraging creative storytelling and intercultural dialogue through collaborative activities and mentorship. In addition to skill-building, the experience will provide participants a chance to explore Sarajevo’s cultural and historical layers, culminating in a joint multimedia exhibition that showcases the outcomes of the workshop.
This final event will reflect the collective creativity, reflections, and shared vision of reconciliation developed by the participants. The workshop aims to strengthen the voices of young people in building a democratic and empathetic society. Equal geographical and gender representation will be considered to ensure diversity of perspectives and experiences among participants from both countries.
Interested applicants between the ages of 18 and 30 from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina can apply by filling out the application form by November 20. Selected participants will be notified by November 24, and all participation costs, including travel, accommodation, and food, are fully covered.
