Applications are now open for the Young Leaders Training Programme to strengthen the political participation of young men and women involved in civil society, trade unions and political parties in Cameroon and to promote the values of social democracy, in particular freedom, justice and solidarity.
The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung has been training young and engaged people in Yaoundé. First as a regional program and since 2018 with a focus on Cameroonian participants. They are looking for 25 young women and men who will take part in 2-day training sessions (Thursday to Friday) at the end of each month from March to October with 8 sessions. During this time, they will touch upon various themes relating to the values of political leadership, communication and operational management tools, either face-to-face or via Zoom.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application
- Reside in Cameroon
- Be available to attend all sessions of the programme
- Hold a university degree or be in the process of obtaining a first degree at the time of application
- Be politically active/engaged in civil society activities
- Be involved in a project or initiative and/or active in civil society, a political party or a trade union.
Application Requirements
- Your cover letter should refer to your engagement in the Cameroonian society, explain what you expect from the programme and also elaborate on the contribution of young people to the transformation of Cameroon.
- To better evaluate the application, the following questions should be answered:
- Why are you applying for this programme? How will your participation contribute to nurturing your commitment and transforming your community (or organization)?
- What would be your contribution to the Young Leaders Programme?
- What do you see as one of the urgent challenges facing Cameroon and how can young people contribute to solving it?
