Have you created an innovative product or service linked to FinTech, health, environment, energy or agriculture? Do you want to create Africa’s digital transition? If yes, then apply for Startup Digital Africa Challenge.
Entries are open for Startup Digital Africa Challenge to give participants the opportunity to offer innovative solutions in the fields of fintech, health, environment, energy and agriculture.
Through their solution(s), the Participants must respond to the following challenge: Propose an innovative and digital solution that could help Africa’s development.
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD, the French Development Agency) and the Banque Publique d’Investissement (BPI, the French Public Investment Bank) recognize the importance of digital innovation and startups in inventing new solutions to support sustainable development. The AFD and the BPI want to encourage and support African entrepreneurs by organizing a competition open to both French and African startups.
The 10 winning startups will have the opportunity to present their solution at the 27th Africa-France Summit in Bamako!

Startups are invited to submit entries in one of four categories:
- Fintech
- Health
- Environment, Energy
- Agriculture
Prizes
AFD ACCELERATION PACK for the 5 winning African startups
- Goal: providing applicants with professional support to develop their project.
- Applicants can benefit from services including mentoring, incubation, networking and funding! The prize is fully customizable- applicants will work with AFD to build their own pack to suit applicant’s need.
- Maximum value of €30,000 for each winner
BPIFRANCE SUPPORT PACK for the 5 winning French startups
- Goal: boost applicant’s knowledge and develop new opportunities for expansion in Africa.
- This pack will include registration on any training programme from the Bpifrance Universite catalogue. And also a trip offering the opportunity to network and to discover the Abidjan and Cape Town ecosystems, organized by French Tech Abidjan and French Tech Cape Town.
- Maximum value of €10,000 for each winner
Eligibility Criteria
- The Challenge is open to any company established in France or anywhere within the continent of Africa.
- Companies established in France shall receive the Award from Bpifrance and companies established in Africa shall receive the Award from AFD.
- AFD and Bpifrance staff members, companies having helped implement or promote the Challenge and their family members cannot take part in the Challenge.
