Applications are now open for its 2022 Research Data Infrastructure Grant to support strategic investments that establish and extend national research data infrastructure to support world-class health and medical research.
Funding for this initiative supports national research data infrastructure with a focus on data registries, biobanks and data linkage platforms to enable and enhance Australian medical research. This will include supporting infrastructure that makes evidence-based care easier for health professionals, drives efficient use of resources and advances healthcare.

The objective and intended outcome of this grant opportunity are aligned with the following Australian Medical Research and Innovation Priorities 2020-2022:
- Digital Health Intelligence
- Translational Research Infrastructure
Funding Information
- A total of $100 million over 10 years from 2022-23 has been made available for the Initiative.
- The grant amount will be up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs (grant percentage).
- There is no minimum grant amount
- The maximum grant amount available for a single grant is $2.5 million.
- You must complete your project within 4 years of the date of execution.
- The Program Delegate may approve an extension of time under certain circumstances.
Eligibility Activities

To be eligible your project must:
- be aimed at the objectives in Section 1.3
- include one or more of the following eligible activities:
- development/installation of research equipment required for the synthesis, repurposing and transformation of existing research data infrastructure
- employment of personnel and/or
- other direct research costs.
- They may also approve other activities.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must:
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- be incorporated in Australia and in accordance with s24 of the MRFF Act 20158, be one of the following entities:
- a medical research institute
- a university
- a corporate Commonwealth entity
- a corporation (including businesses and not for profits).
- Joint applications are encouraged, provided you have a lead organisation who is the main driver of the project and is eligible to apply.
