Bank of Maldives is seeking applications for its Aharenge Bank Community Fund to empower individuals to contribute to their communities through sustainable projects.
They will support 20 community-based projects in the thematic areas of education, environment, sports and community development. This will be implemented in 4 phases during 2021.
Funding Information
- Successful applicants will receive a maximum funding of MVR 50,000 each.
- Successful applicants will have the amount credited to their bank account listed on the Application and Proposal form, once both parties agree to payment terms. Payment terms will be discussed based on the individual project proposal.
- The winning prizes are non-transferrable.
What are they looking for?
They’re looking for ideas that improve community spirit, promote sustainability and provide a social opportunity. For example:
- Creating a Community Garden where everyone can plant vegetables, fruits, herbs and come together as a community
- Establishing Community Libraries to instill a love for reading and learning
- Installing solar powered lights in public areas such as schools and harbor
- Reinventing “holhuashi” to meet today’s community needs
- Building mobile apps that contribute to sustainable innovations within the community
- Promoting coding and innovation for children and youth
Eligibility Criteria
- The project is open for individuals, local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), women’s development groups, tech community movements and youth empowerment groups. Government and Business entities are not eligible.
