The Somerset Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Community Building Energy Efficiency Grants to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of community buildings.
Aim
- The aims of this funding programme are to:
- support community buildings to install energy efficiency saving and decarbonisation measures
- ensure the long-term sustainability of community buildings as essential neighbourhood assets.
- If your project aligns with these aims you can use this grant for things such as:
- the installation of items such as low energy lighting
- solar panels
- insulation
- air-to-air source heat pumps.
Funding Information and Duration
- Grants are available of up to £20,000 for work to be completed within a period of 12 months from the grant award date.
Eligibility Criteria
- Charities, including charitable incorporated organisations (CIO), can apply if they have at least 3 unrelated trustees registered with the Charity Commission and can meet the financial and safeguarding requirements.
- Community groups, or unincorporated associations can apply if they have a governing document that includes charitable aims benefitting the wider public. They also need to be run by at least 3 unrelated community members and need to meet the financial and safeguarding requirements.
- CICs registered with Companies House can apply if they:
- are clearly trading, including income from public sector contracts, and not running almost exclusively on grants and donations
- have at least 3 unrelated directors registered with Companies House
- Private companies cannot normally apply for the funding.
- Community Benefit Societies, or cooperatives owned by their members, can apply if they are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority and exist primarily for the benefit of the wider community.
Ineligibility Criteria
- They can’t consider applications that are:
- from individuals
- from groups without the required security of tenure (minimum 10-year lease or freehold)
- for work where the necessary permissions are not in place for the work to be carried out
- for work already underway or undertaken.
